Down to the river to play

Sometimes I need to create wholly for myself, free from an agenda or specific expectations. So I was delighted when a fellow photog friend suggested we head down to the river for some wet, messy creekin’ shots. We met first thing in the morning hoping for a beautiful sunrise, but we were greeted with a dark and drizzly day. It ended up being perfect for capturing the mood. As much as I love that golden hour glow, I find the mood that shadows and contrast create is equally beautiful. See for yourself.

Practice Makes Perfect

I couldn’t resist putting my three year old in this amazing flower girl dress the moment it was in my possession. I love her post-nap grumpiness in juxtaposition with the grandeur of the dress. This was a completely candid session, taken on a whim, hence the disorder of her bedroom in the background. She is practicing to be a flower girl in her uncle’s wedding this summer.
